<But a transforming technology does not necessarily mean profits and higher stock markets. In the short to medium term (say the next five years or so) the internet and the telecosm may prove to be profit destroyers for western corporations and a potent deflationary force. >

Well, we know all about that eh Kyros, from our Globalstar experience. A transforming technology which ate capital by the mountain and was highly deflationary for me.

Cyberspace could do a grand job of that. JDS Uniphase being the biggest loss in human history as but one example. Then all the dot.bombs.

It's certainly going to make changes and maybe just as you say. But they thought, with the advances of the past 30 years, that leisure would become a huge problem as machines took over the work. But people just came up with more stuff to do. I'm sure the same will happen. Like mice running in a wheel or otters playing, it's just how we are. We go!
