They actually had an "e" on the end of the word "potato"? On the menu? A very bad sign.

They would probably spell "pretentious" as "pretentieuse", and think it something they ought to be. Of course it is something they are, though apparently without justification.

You have my sympathies.

But blue cheese and apricots with potato pancakes even sounds horrid. Somebody with no food-judgment simply made it up. Is it a new restaurant that will fail soon? Maybe you should email them the link to your description of the dinner you had there, giving them the opportunity to say they'd like to make it up to you. Or at least getting revenge. I guess they'd have to sign in to SI. Well, you could include the text.
