I must confess that I do not have puppy dog eyes. I'm pretty well this lovely morning, though it's almost noon. Limping around a bit. I had friends up from Manila over the weekend, and we paddled our local river. A typhoon has just passed and it was huge. The paddling was lots of fun, but while carrying the boat back up to the truck I slipped on a rock, wrenched my big toe, and landed a massive bruise on one thigh. So now I'm among the walking wounded. I guess I do some odd things, but I think it's worth it. Afterwards we stopped at a beach resort owned by a rather genteel Swiss fellow and ate a rather good meal, devoid of "potatoe" and costing only $50 - for six of us. We may be 3rd world, but we are not altogether devoid of creature comforts....
