A positive endorsement from Barron's was boosting Advanced Micro Devices

<A positive endorsement from Barron's was boosting Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD - news) higher on Instinet this morning. Shares of the chipmaker may be undervalued relative to rival Intel, Barron's reported. The semiconductors sold by AMD are ``equal to and in many cases better and faster than rival offerings from Intel,'' said the report. ``Though this will change when Intel comes out with its newer chips next year, it gives AMD a window of opportunity to seize market share.''

In related news, Intel is scheduled to unveil its new mobile Pentium III processor, code named Tualatin, today. The new chips will run at speeds up to 1.2 gigahertz and be the first Intel product using 0.13 micron technology.>
