In Europe, the average use of the mobile phone is about five minutes a day. At the same time roughly 85 percent of voice traffic goes through fixed networks. Voice lines operate an average of 20 minutes in 24 hours, while some value-added network services are only working at 20% of capacity. ARPU is declining: At the end of 2000, EMC says world average ARPU was $39.31, down from nearly $60 in December 1997. Also falling is the world average airtime cost with peak minutes now costing just over 30 cents. I hope it helps.
