Dear Tench: How long did it take Intel to go from one CPU bus to two in a chipset? It was much longer than the time AMD took in going from 1 link to 2 links. The scaling factor is about 150% absolute for 4 over 2 way with double the memory. With 762MP it is about 180% absolute with the same amount of memory. The gain from 2 to 4 way is no longer good enough and hasn't since the 8 way was introduced where 2 to 4 way is much more useful. The quad 700 2MB single FSB is no longer justifiable except by sheer inertia. It is getting too far behind in either performance, price, or both. Pete
