We always try to have two or three or even more rank-and-file present when we discuss with management a complaint, for instance, that we think we can solve before it becomes a full-blown grievance.

If the top manager at the plant and the leader of the union local respect each other but don't particularly like each other, that's a healthy relationship, as far as the workers are concerned, in my opinion.
