AltaVista Features eBay Listings Shopping Search and Comparison Engine Latest to Enroll in eBay API Program PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- AltaVista, the leading global search technology at www.altavista.com, and a majority owned operating company of CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI - news), today announced that AltaVista's shopping-comparison guide now features listings from eBay, The World's Online Marketplace(TM). The strategic relationship between the companies provides joint marketing, technology and traffic distribution opportunities.
Utilizing eBay's Application Programming Interface (API), AltaVista will integrate eBay listings into the AltaVista shopping and product research service, providing consumers with the opportunity to bid on products relevant to their search queries and shopping interests.
``By adding eBay's item listings, we are providing our users with another trusted and well known brand that further broadens AltaVista's efficient and comprehensive online shopping service,'' said Gannon Giguiere, senior director, global product marketing, AltaVista. ``We now allow consumers to compare Web, localized brick-and-mortar stores and auction listings with a single glance, saving time and simplifying the process of searching for products online.''

Users will have the option to click on a listing to get additional information and place bids, or they may view additional listings by clicking on the ``View All Results'' link. Shoppers can also search eBay exclusively by clicking a link from the AltaVista Shopping homepage at www.shopping.altavista.com.
