Paul, thanks for that Sun article. I got a big kick out of this line:

Sun already faced one problem with the UltraSparc III chip. The glitch, which could cause incorrect mathematical calculations, showed up only in lab tests, but Sun determined the problem was significant enough to issue a patch that dampened the chip's performance.

Now that's a novel idea: we better fix something EVEN THOUGH IT SHOWS UP ONLY IN LAB TESTS. The author is probably pretty clueless, but I wonder if Sun thought twice before going ahead with the fix?
