" I could also make an argument against casual sex at any age."

Well yeaah, thats what I tagging decent. Intimate sexual affairs or on the side casual excursions has a romantic seduction for all of us. When people involved in these encounters encapsulate themselves from all other relationships, they can have a romantic and "special" moment in time. The fact that they are "affairs" or "casual," however brings reality to bare. In reality, there are significant other people who either are or will be affected by the sexcapades. It always causes pain at one level or another. Decency requires a true regard for the well being of partners, as well as, others who may be effected by trampings.

"I think that if you go for abstinence until marriage on the basis of decency you'll end up with a few decent kids getting married and a disaster for the rest."

Hmmm, a few are worth the effort and you might be surprised what happens with kids when adults believe in them. I don't understand why if a few are decent that spells disaster for the rest. It is not a cause and effect relationship as you have put it.

"That was the thinking when I was coming of age, that sex is indecent."

That is a cheap twist and an unwarranted attribution to me. There is a difference between illicit sex and decency and you are attempting to blur the distinction.
