These "on the water" arguments either way seem suspect to me. But maybe there are actually ways to estimate such things. It sure didn't work when the "wall of oil" was "on its way" last year.

I think energy prices are the true random walk. There are too many variables playing in simultaneously. I have never yet seen any source that predicted energy prices with anything approaching much better than 50% accuracy.

Looking at AGA figures for gas is some help, but by the time the trend is clear it is in large part discounted.
