Yes, totalitarianism can drive various mixes of economy but obviously not very far. I think I indicated it drove a state owned and directed communism and a state directed with private ownership nazism.

Short of a mandate with control of the House and Senate I doubt we will see a true decline in the size of government. The best I can see on the horizon is to keep the budgets down and hope for tax rate cuts, tax reform and de-regulation. Bureaucracy has a life of its own. As my lawyer cousins point out, government workers "own" their jobs.


If everything but government grows, it will shrink by comparison if nothing else.
