Paul
the fact remains that HT exists and 3GIO does not.

Paul, Re: <3GIO Headlines>

An amazing tempest given the container, isn't it?

("HyperTransport is...a good five-year solution" for connecting chips within a computer, Grilley said. "We just think there needs to be a 10-year solution. What we want to do with the 3GIO is to go one step farther."

Both HyperTransport and 3GIO use a relatively small number of high-speed wires to carry data. 3GIO is explicitly designed as a way to connect external devices to a computer, whereas AMD currently is billing HyperTransport as a way to connect internal components. ...

It's clear that as time progresses the trend is to increasing signal muxing on transmission media.

First occurrence was on air with radio.

Then came telephony with N-carrier on wire.

And light on fiber.

As the data rate increases the transmission media/unit data cost becomes prohibitive.

INTC gives HyperTransport 5 years and says 3GIO is good for 10.

I doubt it.

Data transmission rates are rising in a parabolic curve.

IMO, You ain't seen nothing yet.
