Intel took more years and still needed to buy a company to get to 8 way dual FSB.

You do what you have to do. Corollary had a good design. Why reinvent the wheel. That move got Intel into the low-medium size server market where they're now firmly entrenched. It paved the way for Itanium, which is catching on WRT software applications. That might not have happened without 8 ways blazing the trail.

AMD is gaining share and making Intel desperate and being foolish.

I hope you don't mean in servers.
