That speculation will either be confirmed or refuted over the next 2 years. Until then, no one knows for sure.

To refute that speculation of mine,

1 - the overall economy will have to get much better fast
2 - there will have to be another Y2K style IT spending splurge
3 - Intel ASPs will have to way up from where they are now, and
4 - Intel will have to take back market share from AMD

3 & 4 are mutually exclusive, since the only way AMD will let go of its market share gains is if Intel substantially drops its ASPs, so I'm almost certainly right. At this point, 1 & 2 don't look very likely, either.
