"Ready" is not a safe term to turn over to adolescents. Maybe not, but we have no choice but to turn it over to them. If they want to fuck and they think they're ready, they will do it. What are you going to do, lock them up? What parents have to realize is that by the time a kid is an adolescent, it's too late to impose values or to provide the grounding for solid decision making. We do that when our kids are much younger. If we do it well, they will make good decisions. If we do it badly, they will make bad decisions, which we can then blame on the media, the schools, and "society".
