Tom i have no idea what caused your jump. I tried to figure out why and the best I could come up with was the Arab world mid east and ridiculous slaughter.

Red worm could be acting as one big breach in our tech expertise, hard call , as I dont feel this would cause gold to jump. It could possibly be the strike or speaking from far side of the left side of the west coast there is very remote chance that somewhere someone is losing confidence in the US dollar.

Guree, here be "last ditch talks"

bday.co.za

Smart expression to impress the shareholders of Goldfields and Harmony who have to pay for the miners' pay increase out of dividends. Except in DRD, which doesn't pay a dividend. So, I guess, Mr Kebble has to pay out of his pocket and is resisting like Hell. Hence, the talks taking place in the "last ditch". Anglo got rid of the problem, last week, presumably in the "first ditch".

Looks to me like the Code Red virus is a valiant attempt to make some money for the beleaguered dot coms who are trying by hook and BY CROOK to lift themselves out of the "ditch". After all, everyone remembers how we were all suckered by the millennium bug and how much money the computer industry "sucked" from that little scam.
