Selling With `Buy' Rating

Unger said 16 of the 57 analysts reviewed, or 28 percent, had pre-IPO holdings in companies their firms took public. Those analysts all gave positive recommendations to the stocks after their IPOs, the SEC study found.

The SEC report said three analysts made profits of $100,000 to $3.5 million by selling securities while they were telling investors to buy. One analyst sold securities ``short'' -- a way to profit when a stock falls -- while maintaining a buy recommendation.

``It's possible they violated not only their firms' policies, but also federal securities laws,'' Unger said.....http://quote.bloomberg.com/fgcgi.cgi?ptitle=Top%20Financial%20News&s1=blk&tp=ad_topright_topfin&refer=topfin&T=markets_bfgcgi_content99.ht&s2=blk&bt=ad_position1_topfin&middle=ad_frame2_topfin&s=AO2c0HRUqQW5hbHlz&ao=5725633

No gentlemen, not just two lonely bears.

Just two bears a little too early for the honey.

Never underestimate the power of GREED. There is more distribution work to be done. More charts with little gaps up or down to add a little spice, then a rally upwards (not very far), but lasting for a few hours, allowing more product to be fed into the pipeline. CARDINAL PRINCIPLE: Don't flood the pipe.

Then sell off towards the end of the day and repeat.

In other words, this is pure-Zeev-Turnip material, with
execution of ARMAGEDDON I on hold for a little bit.

Namaste!

Jim

When this very effective work is done--still maybe several
weeks away, then you will have your way.

ah.. I was actually looking forward to see if you threw in the towel.. :)

Im still short.. and at around 12-1 ish, I put in a ton of buy-stop limit orders that never triggered.. Strangly enough, I had a buy stop on BRCM at $45 and all the quote services I show have it printing 45, but thank goodness I never filled.. Another one of lifes small 'bones'? or was there really no actual print at $45?

Zeev.. Micron is really going to humble me..Why is it that the total garbage is always the one that gives you the most headaches when shorting? It needs to get near $44 for me to cover, but I never in a zillion years thought it would be trading near there so fast.. Ill take my lump and move on if she gets there..

... I held together and waited for the close- and I must say, it put a smile on my face seeing the nasdaq floundering.. Now IM just wondering if todays move in the nasdaq was a sign of things to come or just a trap and we can expect a powerful rally..

It was really odd how the nasdaq just refused to budge.. even my mom called to ask me how the dow could be so high and the nasdaq only a +9... (my mom is the only family member who listens to my obsessive ramblings about the markets.. she favors the short side as well : ) )

a family that trades together stays together.. Isnt that what they taught me in Catholic school?

Zeev: Re: "Glad to agree with you, but once more we are the two lonely 'standing' bears (g)."

Yep... maybe so. I, for one, see no need to "stand" up at this point <g>.

Well I only closed my chip shorts, and repositioned the others (at better prices). Also held MU short EBAY PUTs, MU PUTs, and QQQ puts.

So I guess that counts me as bearish.

I have been watching the IBD stocks and the ones that have broekn out of bases that pull back to 50DMA seem to do well.
CHS has been the latest one..

Zeev:

Even I am beginning to doubt we will see a big drop in the near-term because of continued downward pressure on the dollar. But I remain convinced that this market still has a lot of work to do on the downside, though possibly not according to the turnips' schedule.
