Amercan:

Listen to yourself and ask if yourself if you are making sense. On one hand the oil companies and Bush's "energy cartel" (my shorthand) are out to gouge us all but somehow the price fluctuates in a wide range and not that long ago oil was 10 dollars a barrel and then over thirty and now in the high 20's natural gas prices have dropped 2/3 after being around I believe 6 and before that they were close to a dollar.

Now doesn't it make sense that if they are sticking it to us, they would maintain the high prices. Why stop?? Under your theory how do you account for the drops in natuaral gas prices, oil, gasoline, etc. It seems there is only a conspiracy when the price goes up, when it goes down no one thinks that is a conspiracy.

The bottom line is that is how supply and demand works and if a product is in demand or if the supply is restricted (which is the opposite side of the coin) the price will go up. These are natural laws. Now it may be true that prices are manipulated to some extent, but regardles of what the people in California think, the fact is most of the problem was a shortage and when you think about it, it corrected itself pretty quickly ---without the government doing anything. By the way, why would the electricity be restricted most to CA. I guess the "energy cartel" has it in for you all. Since they like the rest of us, most of us were spared the problem, or could it possibly, maybe be that the problem was caused by CA's stupid legislators.
