It always costs more to import something you are not willing to make yourself.

When did energy price gouging/spikes begin?
As soon as Cheney was chosen for the veep spot.
Was there a real shortage?
Apparently not. Just a lie. Now we have a supply glut and
Bush wants OPEC to cut production.
Look at the timing. How perfect.
Was this part of what Cheney would bring to the ticket?
Was this the real campaign strategy?
When did the price spikes peak?
Right after Bush took power.
When all the CLinton regulators were kicked out and replaced by energy industry lobbyists and cronies.
Look at the timing.
In both cases, who wins and who gets punished?
They win. We all lose. Especially Democratic California
and potential 2004 rival Grey Davis.
When did the price spikes stop?
As soon as Jeffords switched parties. (they never anticipated that - surprise! - democracy works)
Why did the mostly gouging stop?
Because the Senate will now investigate and maybe indict.
Watch Lieberman go.
Just know the politics and follow the money.
Very clear situation.
How much will these price spikes cost American consumers?
As much as they're getting back for tax breaks.
So who gets the tax breaks?
They do.
And what happens to our surplus?
They get it.
Now do you get it? And what are you going to do about it?
Kick the thieves out for one thing.
Unless of course you like pollution and corruption.
