Stan, Yes, always maybe. As for KLAC, one can read everywhere how their Q4 EPS of $0.29 beat estimates:

Hmmmm, everyday companies exclude the impact of every conceivable non-recurring charge and special situation. KLAC had +$2 million in non-recurring events that should have been excluded from their EPS number (IMO), but were not. In addition, if you review their Statement of Operations (with a calculator), you will discover the company reduced their tax rate for the quarter from 28% to 22%. (of course, they forgot to mention this significant tax rate revision in their press release). One could easily argue they did not beat analyst estimates.

Hey, but that's all history now and probably wouldn't have changed anything, but I thought it was interesting.
