One reason that this whole media bias debate always amuses me is that where I come from, and pretty generally throughout the developing world, it is taken as an article of faith that the the big US media are part of the giant corporate crypto-fascist right-wing conspiracy to rip off and enslave everyone who isn't a light-skinned northerner. Any good 3rd world leftie can pick apart any major news broadcast or newspaper and find example after example of right-wing bias. It is a constant subject of protest in the 3rd world press, and becomes fearfully tedious. Of course you could look at the same broadcast or newspaper and pull out example after example of left-wing bias.

Since I have little personal experience of big media, it is very difficult for me to judge which group, if either, has a better case. I tend to suspect that in both cases there is a tendency to focus on those items where reporting is not what the individual concerned would like it to be. "I don't like it, it must be wrong" is one of the commonest whines among ideologues of all descriptions.
