I mentioned a few weeks back that my company has just decided to switch from Gateway to Dell. We just had a presentation on the new "standard" system. A 1GHz P3.

I was really surprised by the feedback from the floor (I kept quiet) which was very critical of the decision to stick with Intel processors despite there being substantially faster processors from AMD. Admittedly, these are technically literate people and so less influenced by Intel's marketing, but even so there was definite signs of a rebellion against the establishment's Intel-centric focus.

(Incidentally, P4 was assumed by all to be a non-starter for reasons of price/performance. This may change with SDRAM mobos, but P4 still has to overcome its reputation for poor performance.)
