Blondie/Very OT. Major League Soccer (MLS) has something called: Project 40 It's one of the reasons you're seeing younger pros in just the past few years. So far, I believe it's still a pilot program. A limited number of college players are selected and join one of the teams. However, they also continue to attend college and earn their degrees. Brian West, of the Crew, is an example. For my guys, it's entirely their decision. But yes, you are right. With all the changes occurring I'll encourage them to keep their options open.
