I agree entirely with you with regard to Pete's ability to deal with reality and his tireless efforts to advance an untenable position.

But, I suspect Pete makes a living dealing with customers and provides a service. He has to have a working knowledge of what he is selling. I am not making any judgements on how effective he is, but I suspect that his distorted agenda is in totality not that harmful to his customers.

Osha, on the other hand, has no working knowledge and a highly conceptual understanding of the industry he covers.

Where Pete is highly emotional, can not separate his emotions from his "beleifs", and has a very small platform to vent his emotions, Osha is far more calculating, has far more credibility because of his ML association, and can do vastly more harm.
