Sorry. I get your point but I don't see "Going Steady" as a standard. I meet 10 year olds who claim to be going steady.

In our culture there is only one standard and that is marriage. People can lower the bar to what ever degree they want to proximate a distance the reflects an intention to honor the conditions implied or specified by marriage but I do not see any thing else as a "clear" standard that encourages responsibility.
