ONTARIO, Calif.--(OTCBB NEWSWIRE)--Aug. 1, 2001--Southern States Power Company Inc. (SSPC: .09) said today that the company is now receiving monthly cash payments from the University of California, Riverside for the availability of approximately 6 megawatts of standby backup generating power. The units are in place and prepared to provide biofueled power to the university, as well as to the Riverside power grid, in the event of shortages during peak usage periods.

Southern States Power Company owns the three 2-megawatt generators, which have a total installed value in excess of $2.5 million, providing a significant asset for the company. The company has invoiced for field installation services of the units, which includes electrical, control, startup and additional procedures.

In other news, Southern States Power Company has filed an NT 10-K Notification of Late Filing for its year-end financials. This action was taken because the company's auditors required more time to complete the filing, and the company expects to file within the time allotted by the extension.

The primary focus of Southern States Power Company Inc. is to develop, produce and distribute alternative fuels, particularly its OXyG Biodiesel, for use by consumers and commercial businesses.
