Jay,

I understand what you are saying and I certainly don't blame you for passing on AMAT at these prices. I bought last year about 2 points off the low and still holding.
check out ACTM in the ems sector. they released earnings today and had a conference call. you may find it interesting. I am long. very long in it.

regards.

Right. I don't have to own this stock, or any stock. If AMAT never reaches a valuation this downturn, where I consider the risk/reward to be heavily in my favor, then I'll put the money into CSCO or JDSU or NTAP or EMC or something else. And, if nothing at all on my buy-list is at a reasonable valuation, then that tells me the market is overvalued, and I'm perfectly comfortable holding cash...... for a few months....... or a few years. I'll get my price. If not now, then later. If not in this stock, then in another one. Well, I'll probably get bored, if it's years, and play some short-term games, like I've been doing quite successfully in 2001. Patience is more important than intelligence, in successful investing.
