I'm figuring it's too much too fast. The Bollinger Bands a few days ago predicted a dramatic move ... and here we go. I'm completely long AMAT, no options open (drat!). But.

The "dog bites man" story du jour is that a hyperoptimist is optimistic. Big whoop. Yet, the pent-up hope for a recovery (I hear ya, Mike ... <g>) takes this as gospel - the first blue sky through the clouds.

Has anyone lived through a hurricane? The eye of the storm is clear and calm ... until the opposite cloud wall hits. I'm reluctantly afraid that Mike's scenario of a brief pop with burnout (W-shaped recovery) is getting more likely.

After I saw this run to the high forties, I figured that I'd set up for a downside move from the mid-fifties. Then Cary posted his GTC order at 55. We're thinking alike.

Keep in mind, in Cary's defense (before you barbequeue him as an inverterate bear) that he is not, really. He has simply articulated a contingency plan to exploit ONE possible case (with several subcases, depending on severity).
