Elmer,

Re: " ... assumption that IBM has some super process technology hiding
in their labs that will save AMD's bacon if they can just get ahold
of it ... SOI will not save the day for AMD."

The even "scarier" belief is that Motorolo is a world-class
process development organization. Motorolo is very far behind in
defect density/cost. Good luck, AMD.

Make It So,
Yousef

PC133 isn't worth the trouble and Intel is already shipping Rambus capable machines.

Copper isn't worth the trouble and Intel is already shipping Aluminum machines.

SOI isn't worth the trouble and...
But you already said that.

You might want to keep in mind that AMD was producing copper test parts with a 193nm stepper in the summer of 1999.

AMD has years more experience with this technology than Intel does. AMD, unlike Intel, doesn't practice Lysenkoism when it comes to things like copper, SOI, and Rambus.
