I was born and raised in Seattle. My father, God rest his soul, was a commercial Salmon fisherman when I was a little girl. Hs boat' name was the "Hawk", and was stationed out of Fishermans Terminal, Ballard Wa. I occasionally fished with him and my maternal grandfather who was also a commercial fisherman, as was my Uncle.

I am well aware of the continuous battle what has been waged to protect the rights of the Salmon, Indian, commercial fisherman, recreational fisherman, farmer, the People of the Pacific NW, the people of Canada, the people of Alaska. Many of them are my friend.

The so called "delicate balance" that has been forged makes many people angry, some happy. My happiness has nothing to do with the fact that 4 lives were taken all in the name of conservation. Conservation has it's place, but not at the expense of human lives.

I don't know who will take the fall for this senseless tragedy? I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the US Govt. May each signer of that incomplete law have nightmares and think, on their deathbed of how the power to have prevented this tragedy was within their grasp.
