That bank failed in May.. took the venerable wall street journal until august to report it... how timely.

A good read, Alex. Thks for the fair use, etc. reprint of that. Allow me to excerpt one classic line...what a jewel

"The people who [the way it was done by Landowsky] criticize are often the ones who ran away when the Wall was built."

That is such a classic, I don't know where to begin...
1) It was wrong to run away and into West Berlin as the Wall was being built?
2) It was wrong to be a banker in that era and run away as the Wall was built?
3) It was wrong to have good reasons to run away as the Wall was built and end up god-knows where?
4) It was --and still is-- evidently wrong to have a valid opinion on banking after leaving the scene after the Wall was built?
5) All banking transactions were forever changed between West Berlin and the rest of the world after the Wall was built?

I could go on, but I've made my point.

Danke', Alex.
Carry on!
