OT - Phased array

Since my company does antenna stuff, I'll take a try at a non-technical explanation. A phased-array antenna is basically a bunch of small antennas in a grid tuned to perform as if they were one big one.

If you've ever seen an optical lens that looks like a bunch of concentric rings, the concept is the same. That approach is called a Fresnel lens, and it can create a very flat but high magnification lens.
