I agree pretty much completely. That's why I've been saying that RDRAM is "dead, dead, dead" since November 1999.

Re granularity: The Samsung chip that provides a x32 600MHz interface gives better granularity (at a given minimum bandwidth requirement) than any RDRAM chip being sampled, and faster RDRAM chips aren't likely to happen, due to customer disinterest.

Earlier versions of Rambus DRAM had more of an advantage against the competition, and so were able to keep a few design wins for one design cycle each.
