A couple of Octobers back, we were in a bus about half way through an 11 hour bus ride lumbering down from a 16,000 ft elevation pass in Tibet, when we passed a group of bike riders. We hadn't seen pavement for at least the 2 prior hours. This small group were stalled waiting for one of theirs to finish fixing the flat he was repairing. Later we passed a couple more who hadn't seen fit to stop. Those cyclers impressed me. I had trouble just staying conscious riding in the back of the bus. Or perhaps I was just bitten by a spider.
