The surgeons said they did the best the could under trying circumstances, but as one anesthesiologist said, "These things happen from time to time."

The patient's current doctors also say that although not clinically dead, the patient's only hope is to continue on full life-support for the foreseeable future. There is some talk of the current doctors attempting a new procedure to save the patient and although the new doctors are trying to be optimistic, in this patient's weakened condition, there is still very little hope.

It seems rather unfortunate to some long dear friends of the patient that this new procedure is being contemplated at this late date. Possibly if this treatment had been attempted three years ago when the patient was younger, things would be different today. Maybe there would be no need today for intravenous feeding. But who knows?

Although close family members have gone through tremendous pain recently, the earlier surgical teams were more fortunate, as they were all paid in full by a group of giving donors.

This patient, unfortunately, has no insurance.
