Its kind of like this, for me, but not exactly. I like the fact that religions exist due to the fact that they create some kind of order in society. Almost all societies have thier laws based off of what the masses believe, and their beliefs are guided by religion. Therefore, we give the rights to each other, based on the popular religion at the time. If the majority of Americans had beliefs similar to certain African tribes, boys could not become "men" until they had sex with their mothers. That is against the law here and a lot of that had to do with religion. Look at the Mormons out in Utah. They wanted multiple wives. Popular religious beliefs did not allow that in the end. There are many more examples. The point is, we give those rights to each other. I don't think that we would loose all of them, but I do think that if more people thought the way I do, certain crimes would no longer be crimes and vice versa.
