The current global warming is a result of the end of the last ice age. When the lake that was above Canada finally collapsed its glacier dam, it cooled the oceans. It has taken this long for the oceans to finally catch up with the trend in air tempatures. In fact, it takes about 2000 years for the ocean to complete one cycle of tempature change. The current starts near Iceland, flows on the bottom of the ocean south to Antartica, over to the Pacific, then warms and rises and comes all the way back around the world following roughly the same path, back to the Northern Atlantic. Global warming is a very natural process.
