SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug 6 (Reuters) - Worldwide shipments of
personal digital assistants, or PDAs, reached 2.79 million units
in the second quarter of 2001, a 21 percent decline from the
first quarter of 2001, Gartner Inc. <IT.N> unit Dataquest Inc.
said on Monday.
Palm Inc. <PALM.O> held onto the No. 1 position in the
United States and worldwide based on shipments, but lost
significant market share since the first quarter of this year,
according to Dataquest.
Compaq Computer Corp. <CPQ.N> increased its market share
from the first quarter this year, boosted by success in the
corporate market, Dataquest said.
According to Dataquest, Palm shipped an estimated 898,000
units in the second quarter, down from 1.79 million units in the
first quarter. Meanwhile, Compaq upped its estimated shipments
to 450,000 in the second quarter from 278,000 in the first
quarter.
Handspring Inc. <HAND.O> was No. 3 in estimated worldwide
handheld shipments, with 300,000, down from 565,000 in the first
quarter.
In estimated PDA shipments in the United States, Palm was
No. 1, followed by Handspring and Compaq.

Anyone know where I can buy a "cordless" modem to connect my laptop wireless pcmcia to a cordless telephone modem at the telephone wall jack? I understand that Symphony is not manufacturing theirs anymore, did or does anyone else?
