Addi,

Cary may have a point. Even though I used split-adjusted price. May be JDSU was issuing more shares to finance all those acquisitions. My back-of-the-envelope model did not account for any dilution by share issuance. Does anybody know how many share were outstanding and the sales were in Oct 1998 for JDSU?

Addi, the long and short of it is that you fervently believe in the Greater Fool Theory and you believe it will work for you.

As for me, I wouldn't count on something like that. I would rather buy a stock today and expect another equally reasonable and sensible investor to buy it from me 10 or 15 or 20 years hence, at a price higher than what I paid for it.

I aim for 15% annualized returns over long periods of time. If I get more than that, I will consider myself not intelligent, but lucky.

If you haven't yet realized how difficult it is to generate 15% annualized returns over long periods of time, you will, at some point in your life.
