If you're machines are working slowly because they're "thrashing" memory (you'll see a lot of disk drive accesses if this is the case), then you can fix the problem by adding more memory.

If you've got a modern version of Windows, you can track your memory usage and see when you need more.

P.S. This all gets back to why it is that the most important attribute of memory is not its bandwidth, but instead is its size. Size matters.
