Hi Ed, good to hear from you. I think Excite dropped into 5th place, but rankings don’t matter now, since there is no need to justify inflated stock prices. What I found interesting is that fool poster is applauding a return to the original concept of @media, as if it’s a new idea.

And then the kicker...Hal Rucker's thoughts on our current Excite.com portal were very interesting. In a nutshell, he said if you can't win the war, start a new one.

The idea is to make Excite.com a BROADBAND-only portal. That raised eyebrows. The conventional wisdom being that few portals are really making any money, and those that do are probably in the #1 or #2 spot already. We're not even close.


BTW, Hal Ruckers’ design group helped the development @Home 1.0, the predecessor of the Excite driven @Home 2000 service.

My service has been excellent lately as well – even e-mail. So far WinXP and IE 6.0 have been working flawlessly.
