Pete, you didn't understand the joke. You originally said, "Any x86 code is runnable on a Hammer without modification at full speed." Unfortunately, you must have actual silicon before you can run anything. Even after that, you have to wait for the performance bugs to be fixed (usually the last bugs to be fixed, if ever) before anything runs at "full speed."

Besides, it's a good bet that Hammer won't be anything more than an Athlon core with x86-64 and integrated north bridge. Therefore, it better run well on legacy code, because it's most likely going to be based on legacy processor technology as well.
