That post clearly insinuated that the rich ought not to pay for anyone else but themselves. If governments allowed this they would all collapse. Understand too that many of the richest businessmen (like Cheney, Ross Perot, George Schultz, etc. etc) get that way because of huge governmemnt contracts. The rich also have tons of tax write-offs that the common man doesn't have. It's very rare that rich people with their top accountants pay any more than 20% tax after all the write-offs (including lavish travel, entertainment, purchases, private jets, soft money contributions, even hookers and girlfriends, etc.) They create trusts for their kids, foundations, etc. The rich is the US have it easy. Eurpoeans in high-income brackets use the US as a tax refuge in case you don't know. Also, the rich tend to have offshore accounts when they can and some huge corporations get massive tax credits. Pepsico paid no tax at all last year. Meanwhile your average working stiff gets it all taken out of his paycheck up front and gets precious little back from Bush-Cheney's tax refund. More or less what he has paid in extra energy bills this year. Do the math. Where does the tax break go? right bck into the pockets of the energy cartel. And the rich get richer.
