Correct. He unequivocally promised no more than two terms in 1990 and renewed his pledge in ’96. His reneging of his promise has gone over like a lead balloon here.

On the positive side, his likely Republican opponent – Norm Coleman is a very attractive candidate – though too liberal for my taste.

Marty Meehan, D--Mass. is also a welsher on term limits. He just got screwed by the Mass legislature. They redistricted his district out of existence...
