VLNC from Herb Greenberg at TSCM

Battery basics: First, the stock of our old friend Valence Technology (VLNC:Nasdaq - news - commentary), the battery company that supposedly would change the battery world, leaped on earnings yesterday that included more licensing revenue than investors had expected. Proof, some bulls must've thought that the company's new strategy to license its technology is working.

However, inquiring minds might want to know what happened to $2.5 million in deferred revenue that was listed on the balance sheet for the fourth quarter ended March 31, and (poof!) disappeared from the first-quarter balance sheet. Can't help but wonder how much that contributed to the $2.9 million in revenue. Don't expect to find out the answer to that question anytime soon: Unlike most companies, which hold conference calls immediately after reporting their earnings, Valence -- in keeping with its unconventional ways -- is waiting three weeks. Three weeks! By then, of course, nobody'll remember, much less care! But, of course, does anybody remember that the CFO quit two and a half weeks ago?

SNDK has been holding up pretty strong the past few sessions, quiet accumulation?

SOX Puts getting re-inflated, I may yet get out with a profit. EMLX and NEWP down, but I'm still at 50% cash for some more bottom fishing.

Bear markets usually last 9-18 months, eh? The NAZ will enter its 18th month this September, a few more weeks of sea sickness until the sunny shores of Bullsville?
