Three points:

1. SUNW can't switch to Linux. It would be their death and they know it. Like it or not they are committed to the "we're different, we're better" strategy that has taken them to where they are today.

2. Given that many routinely criticize Windows for "code bloat" I doubt if many in the anti-MSFT camp will welcome news that Linux is inexorably slipping into the same syndrome.

3. The only folks who fell victim to Code Red are those who failed to install the preventative patch in a timely manner despite repeated well-publicized warnings. The more successful a product the more it will inevitably count among its users those who pose a danger to themselves and those around them. Be careful what you wish for. :)
