And, of course, they didn't start working on their copper process until that day. Which is why it was such a surprise when the Tbird was introduced. And all that talk about test runs of copper SRAMs and K6-2s in 1999 was just fantasy...

So, you think Intel is only one year behind AMD, and not the 1 1/2 years behind that I posted?

Don't forget that AMD converts its FAB lines more quickly than Intel can (partly, I admit, because there are so many more Intel lines to convert).

Overall, I think that AMD is closer to 1.5 years ahead of Intel than the 1 year you believe, but I'm sure you'll cling to your conclusion regardless of what I post.
