This is going to sound like heresy - and I can't even believe I am saying it - but isn't is possible that sometimes the guys who work for the government sometimes have better ideas than the guys who are in charge of corporations?

When I was taking environmental law classes, I had no intention of going into the industry, but I knew people who felt strong callings - and watched them wrestle with the ineluctable fact that you can't make much money as an environmental lawyer unless you go to work for industry - which usually means helping corporations flout environmental law. Still, the best and brightest tried for jobs with governments and non-profit organizations, if they could afford to live like that.

On the whole, I think governments suck. At the same time, I recognize that sometimes people - my metaphoric brothers and sisters - choose to work within the system.

A good idea is a good idea no matter where you find it.
