MSFT would likely back, and provide financial muscle to a Comcast or competing bid to an AOL bid. MSFT already has a significant investment in CMCSA, as well as in T. MSFT is not going to sit this one out. The sale of T's cable biz is going to be a watershed event in the history of cable biz, precipitating deals, and combinations for the larger players that will need to get bigger or be swallowed. However, many of the cable biz's are family controlled, so there has to be a big inducement to sell. I still think that ATHM is a very attractive asset to a company wanting to build a nationwide presence. Why wouldn't MSFT want ATHM as an outlet for its MSN? larry
